Pilates is a holistic exercise method focusing on the coordination of mind, body, and spirit. It includes low-impact exercises on mats or with small apparatus like hand weights and balls, as well as larger equipment like the Reformer and Wunda Chair. The goal is to strengthen and lengthen the body, improving core strength, posture, joint alignment, flexibility, and endurance. Pilates also enhances breathing, circulation, digestion, and lymphatic drainage. Developed by Joseph Pilates in the 1930s, it is suitable for all ages and fitness levels.
We limit group classes to 8 participants to ensure personalised attention for each individual. This allows for precise alignment and tailored adjustments, enhancing body awareness and muscle control. Smaller classes help you achieve better results with focused guidance from your Pilates instructor.
Matwork classes are offered at:
Girl Guides Australia Hall in Jirrah Avenue, Point Clare NSW 2250 (Fagan Park)
Studio sessions (private or duets) are offered at:
Coast Health Clinic at 2 Baker Street, Gosford NSW 2250.
(You do not need to be a patient of CHC to book a Pilates studio session)
In-Home services are provided at your location.
No special clothing is needed, but we do recommend wearing comfortable workout clothing that you can move in but that is not too baggy.
Your instructor should ideally be able to see how your muscles and bones are aligned and moving.
Gym tights or leggings and a top/singlet are ideal. Please also bring socks with you. We ask that you wear socks for hygiene reasons. If you have socks with grippy soles, even better, but normal socks also work.
Avoid anything with studs, buckles, zips, bulky tie backs or belts. Please also remove all dangly or sharp jewellery. We also kindly request to avoid wearing heavily scented creams or perfume to your class.
We request that you cancel at least 24 hours before your scheduled class to allow us to offer your spot to another customer. Please call 0401 256 626 if you need to cancel. While we do not offer refunds, if you provide at least 24 hours' notice, we will credit your payment toward another class. If you cancel with less than 24 hours' notice, you will forfeit any payments made.
If you have recently sustained an injury or undergone surgery, we may require a clearance certificate from your doctor to ensure it is safe for you to exercise. Please call us at 0401 256 626 to discuss your situation before booking. When you book, we will send you a health screening questionnaire to complete. If you have previously submitted a health questionnaire but have experienced changes in your health status, such as a new diagnosis or recent surgery, please update your medical history with us.
If you are running late, we will do our best to accommodate you. However, if you are more than 10 minutes late for a matwork class, you may miss the warm-up phase and might not be able to join. For studio sessions, we will try to continue with your personal program, but depending on how late you are, we may need to reduce repetitions or skip certain exercises to finish on time. Please note that your class or session will still end at the scheduled time.
